Suggested Operating Procedure
Setting Up the S16 Digital Snake
Steps
If using the S16 Snake, set this up first. The stages are:
- Set the S16 in position
- Add ethernet link
- Connect the inputs and outputs
- Configure the link
Details

| 1 | Place the S16 on the stage, and connect the Ethernet cable to AES50 A socket | |
| 2 | Connect the Ethernet cable to AES50 A socket on the X32 Desk | |
| 3 | Connect the inputs / outputs to the S16 | See connections |
| 4 | Turn on both units BEFORE turning on the amplifier | |
| 5 | Ensure that the X32 is set as the Master unit. Go to “Setup” by pressing the “Setup” button, and make sure you are on “Global” page. Make sure that “Internal” is selected. | |
| 6 | Make sure the S16 is set to be a slave unit, and not the master. Check that the display shows “In 1”- if not, press and hold the “Config” button and turn the “HA Control” knob until “1-8” is shown | A green LED will illuminate on the S16 and a Green signal will appear on the X32 screen if the link is working, If not, try this again. |
| 7 | On the X32, select the Routing screen, make sure you are on the first page (Input) and then set “1-8” to “AES50 A1-8” and 9-16 to “AES50 A9-16” | |
| 8 | Scroll across to the Out page. Set “Output 7” to “Main L” and “Output 8” to “Main R” |

Connect the inputs to the X32 Desk / S16 Snake, plus main and monitor speakers. Suggested Setup
Display setup
The small LCDs on each channel can be configured to display the function associate with them, eg the inputs can be set to say things like “Vocal”, “Guitar”, etc and also display an icon associated with the item. The colour of the display can also be changed to help differentiate different items, eg make all vocal mics green, guitars blue, keyboards yellow.
The procedure to set up the display is:

| 1 | Press “Setup”, and scroll to the Scribble Strip page. | |
| 2 | Select the channel / bus you want to configure, and then select the colour, icon and enter the name. | Choose your own colour scheme and stick to it, making it easier to spot when working live. |
| 3 | It is recommended that any unused channels have the display set to black, so that they are not a distraction |
Gain settings
The first stage is to set up the gain and settings for each input channel.
Mute Groups
There are 6 buttons in the Mute Group area, which can be set to mute selected channels, eg mute all instruments, mute all except house mic, mute effects, etc.

Suggested configuration
